It’s important to be patient and always have your car in good condition to avoid accidents or breakdowns during your travels.
On the DGT’s website, you can find some tips for weekend getaways and recommendations for travel schedules:
Travel in the direction of departure from major urban areas and high traffic volumes on the main roads leading to tourist areas along the coast and second residences, especially during unfavorable hours between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
SATURDAYTravel in the direction of departure from major urban areas with increased traffic on the main roads and routes to the coast, beaches, and second residence areas, as well as on roads leading to leisure and recreational places near urban centers. There may be congestion on the roads connecting coastal towns, especially during unfavorable hours between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
SUNDAYIn the morning, there will be congestion on access roads to the coast and beaches, as well as on local roads connecting coastal towns. Later in the evening, there will be an influx of return traffic towards major urban areas with high traffic volumes and circulation problems on the main roadways that handle all the return traffic from coastal and coastal areas. The unfavorable hours will be between 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM, sometimes extending into the late hours of the night.
